Welcome to the Palacký University Open Portal

The Palacký University Open Portal is the official open-access repository designed to store, preserve, and showcase the research output of our university community.
Our mission is to provide free, open, and permanent access to the knowledge created at Palacký University Olomouc, ensuring that it reaches the global academic and research community.

Advancing open access, F.A.I.R. principles & funder compliance

Open access
We support researchers in making their work openly available through both gold and green open access routes.

F.A.I.R. principles
The repository aligns with the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability (F.A.I.R.) principles, ensuring that deposited research outputs remain discoverable, accessible, and reusable over time.

Findability:

  • Each record is assigned a globally unique, persistent identifier (Handle, DOI).
  • Metadata follows the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set, enriched with custom local metadata fields if needed.
  • Persistent identifiers for related research outputs can be included in metadata.
  • Records are indexed and searchable immediately upon publication in the repository.

Accessibility:

  • Metadata and research outputs are retrievable via standardized, open protocols.
  • Metadata are harvestable using the OAI-PMH protocol (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) and retrievable through REST API.
  • No authentication or authorization is required for public access.
  • Metadata is licensed under CC0, and research outputs are licensed under Creative Commons open licenses.
  • Metadata and research outputs will be retained for the lifetime of the repository.
  • If a digital object is no longer available, it remains accessible via a “tombstone page.”

Interoperability:

  • Palacký University Open Portal employs Dublin Core metadata standards and allows import to or export from other metadata schemas.
  • Research outputs are stored in non-proprietary, standard, well-documented formats suitable for long-term preservation.
  • External research outputs referenced in metadata are qualified by persistent identifiers.

Reusability:

  • Metadata complies with the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set and allows for the inclusion of other enrichments.
  • Metadata is licensed under CC0, while research outputs are made available under Creative Commons open licenses, as specified in the metadata.
  • Metadata always includes the original authors of the published work.
  • Palacký University Open Portal is a general-purpose repository that utilizes one of the broadest cross-domain metadata standards.

Meeting funder requirements
Our repository helps researchers comply with open science mandates from Horizon Europe and other funding programs by supporting:

  • Immediate open access publication
  • Depositing Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs) and Versions of Records (VoRs)
  • Using Creative Commons licenses (wherever possible)
  • Linking related research outputs via persistent identifiers
  • Licensing metadata under CC0, ensuring compliance with F.A.I.R. principles and funder-specific requirements

Why use the Palacký University Open Portal?
